FES Products - Pain Management, Denervated Muscle, Complete System

Stimulette Edition5 S2x

The Stimulette Edition5 S2X can be used to stimulate both innervated and denervated muscles to treat chronic, nociceptive and neuropathic pain, as well as central nervous paresis.

The powerful 2-channel stimulation unit has 28 proven electrotherapy waveforms, as well as 6 programmable forms, making it appropriate for use with flaccid paralysis, fibromyalgia, cerebral stroke and more. The touch screen, in combination with a well thought-out user interface, makes the selection and operation of the unit very simple.

With full training and a suggested programme of application provided to each client for optimum use, the Stimulette Edition5 S2X is offering increasing health benefits for those who may not be appropriate for conventional FES.

Key Features.

The Schuhfried stimulators, and their research backed current forms, have been in use since 1947. They are the industry leaders in the stimulation of flaccidly paralysed, denervated muscles.

Evidence Based Waveforms

There are 28 pre-programmed electrotherapy waveforms which can be used effectively across a range of applications. These include but are not limited to Galvanisation, Frequency Modulation, Diadynamic and TENS.

2 Channel Stimulation

Unilateral or bilateral stimulation can be achieved with 2 channels of stimulation. Large surface electrodes and sponges are used to cover and stimulate as much of the muscle as possible.

Programmable Waveforms

For the experienced clinician, there are 6 programmable waveforms that can be created and stored specifically for use with a user in cases where you desire greater control.

Electrotherapy & Pain.

Electrical stimulation is extensively used for the symptomatic control of pain. Although the idea had been proposed for many years (decades even) the rationale boost was provided by the so called “gate control theory” of pain proposed in the mid 1960s by Meizack and Wall. Even today the mechanisms of pain generation and perception are being revised and updated.

The Edition5 S2X electrotherapy product supports a number of waveform types for application across the spectrum of pain manifestations. Particular waveforms may be favoured in different parts of the world and yet virtually unknown in others. The particular waveform groups included are:

  • GALV - Three “galvanisation” waveforms for Acute, Chronic, nociceptive pain, Neuropathic Pain. Primarily used for Iontophoresis.

  • IG - Two Impulse Galvanisation waveforms or Acute, Chronic nociceptive pain, Neuropathic Pain. IG30 is also effective at enhancing blood flow in an area. IG30 also for neuropathic pain

  • UR - Ultra-Reizcurrent waveform. The UR waveform is applicable to Acute and Chronic nociceptive and neuropathic pain.

  • DIAD - Four diadynamic waveforms - Diadynamic waveforms for pain relief for Acute, Chronic nociceptive pain, Neuropathic Pain. Also used for Iontopheresis

  • TENS - Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation for Chronic pain. Also for Acute, Chronic nociceptive pain and Neuropathic Pain. TENS-HFT for Acute pain and TENS LFT and TENS-BuT for Chronic pain

  • HV - HV100 (High Voltage) particularly for Acute pain although applicable also to neuropathic pain

  • MFR - Medium frequency waveforms can be used with acute and chronicpain. MF100 is used for acute pain

Benefits of Electrotherapy

Aside from the management of pain, the Simulette Edition5 S2x can be used to stimulate denervated muscle. After some years, much of the tissue of denervated muscle is replaced by fat and connective tissue and secondary problems such as decubitus ulcers, dysfunction of wound healing and osteoporosis can occur. By using the Edition5 S2x, clients can achieve both direct and indirect benefits with consistent use.

Regeneration of Muscle Structure

Over time denervation affects the nerves and structure of the muscle. By using a biphasic, ‘Twitch’ contraction training programme you can encourage the nerves and muscle structure to normalise.

Particularly where there is potential for re-innervation, the muscle remains capable of contracting.

Improve Strength & Visual Appearance

Our next goal is to strengthen and develop this muscle tissue. Using a biphasic ‘Tetanic’ training programme, we encourage a strong, sustained contraction of the muscles.

This will help to improve muscle bulk and tissue quality, reducing complications and improving the physical appearance.

Better Skin & Wound Healing

Increased activity in the muscles will improve the circulation of blood to the muscle & surrounding tissue. This in turn serves to improve the general condition of the skin, speed up wound healing and help prevent pressure sores.

Edition5 S2x Assessment Process

1. Request A Demo / Complete the Risk Assessment
In order to organise a demo we ask you to complete a risk assessment. It gives us some basic information to make sure the device is safe and suitable for you to use.
Click the button below to complete!

2. We’ll Arrange a Demo
Using the details on your form we’ll ask one of our therapy partners to visit you for a demo of the device in your home, or if more convenient, a nearby clinical facility.

NB. Our Therapy Partners are not sales people. We contract them independently to assess your clinical suitability and make sure you are comfortable with all aspects of the device.

3. Personal Report & Quote
We’ll write up and email over your personal report. This will include full details of your session and the device configuration that best suits your needs.
If you’re happy with the recommendation we will send you a formal quote.

4. Place Your Order
Once you are happy, and we’ve answered all your questions you can accept our quote online, by email, or by phone, and we’ll get things in motion!
